…Clarke? Richard Clarke? I'm not here to dump on him. He's a good man, a hard worker, and we were lucky to have him. I certainly don't blame him for what happened… a lot of people started huffing paint fumes after 9/11… he'd have been fine if he hadn't mixed that with the horse tranquilizers….
...I'm not aware of any information from the intelligence community that predicted the kind of attacks that we experienced on 9/11. OK, there was that Tom Clancy book, but for one thing, that was a Japanese guy, not an Arab. Also, I was provost of Stanford, for God's sake. You think I'd be caught dead reading that kind of tripe? Cheney, maybe - he's just a glorified hick, anyway. The president? Waaaay above his reading level. Too many big words.
